Emily works from a solution-focused and emotionally-based standpoint, enabling clients to feel empowered and take control of their lives. She strives towards helping her clients reach their goals while developing strategies and skills they can continue to implement on an ongoing basis.

Online Therapy
As part of her practice, Emily offers the potential of online counseling for her clients. Online counseling allows for the client to get the full benefits of therapy, from the comfort of their own home. The primary focus is to develop specific goals, empowering the clients to develop and implement new strategies into their daily lives.

Individual Therapy
As an adult, it is often difficult to implement change in one’s life. I believe that it is helpful to learn ways in which to modify behaviours as opposed to changing them. I work towards helping clients attain realistic goals by understanding why we behave in certain ways, and by finding strategies to modify those behaviours.

Adolescents
Adolescence is challenging. It is crucial to have someone objective who can help you navigate the teenage years. I work hard with my clients to empower them to take control of their lives. I look at finding solutions and help them develop strategies. Confidentiality is an integral part of my philosophy. It is important that my clients feel safe to express themselves openly and honestly.

Couple Counselling
Relationships can be tough to navigate. Communication, understanding and respect are three of the most necessary skills for healthy relationships. When working with couples, I strive towards being a neutral third party, allowing both partners to express themselves in a safe, judgement-free environment. I engage the couple in working towards developing goals as a partnership and empower them to strategize ways in which to reach those goals.

Family Counselling
It can be difficult to understand how our behaviours might impact the people we care about. Family counselling is about allowing each member of the family to hear, acknowledge, and accept each other. It is vital to be able to create open and honest communication within the family unit. I work with each member to feel heard, while keeping in mind each person’s character, skills, and individual histories.
